A WhatsApp catalog is a built-in product showcase inside WhatsApp Business that lets customers browse your products or services directly in the chat, without leaving the app.
In this article, you will learn what a WhatsApp catalog is, how to create one, how to connect it to Kommo, and how to use it to turn conversations into sales.
What is WhatsApp Catalog?
A WhatsApp Catalog is a digital storefront inside your WhatsApp Business account. It lets businesses display products or services with photos, descriptions, prices, and links, so customers can browse and ask about items without leaving the conversation.
WhatsApp Business Catalog vs. WhatsApp Business app catalog
Not all WhatsApp catalogs work the same way. Before connecting one to a CRM like Kommo, know the difference:
A WhatsApp Business app catalog is a simple, self-contained feature great for small local businesses; however, the WhatsApp catalog connected to a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) is a more powerful setup that unlocks integrations with CRM platforms like Kommo.
Who can use WhatsApp catalogs?
WhatsApp catalogs are useful for a wide range of businesses. Here are some of the most common use cases:
-
E-commerce and online stores that want to skip the website redirect.
-
Retail businesses that share inventory directly in chat.
-
Service-based businesses (agencies, clinics, salons) showcasing packages.
-
Restaurants and food businesses that share menus inside WhatsApp.
-
Wholesale and B2B businesses that manage inquiries at scale.
If your business sells something and your customers already reach out to you on WhatsApp, the WhatsApp Catalog feature is built for you.

Why WhatsApp catalog matters for sales
A WhatsApp catalog shortens the path from “I'm interested” to “I'll take it”. Here is why it matters:
-
Fewer steps to purchase: No redirects, no abandoned carts from switching apps.
-
Faster responses: Your team or AI agent can reference items directly instead of retyping descriptions.
-
A more professional storefront: Signals credibility against larger competitors.
-
Higher engagement: Customers stay in-chat longer and ask more follow-up questions.
-
Easier sharing: Customers can forward your catalog or products to friends at zero cost.
WhatsApp catalogs shorten the buyer journey to a single chat.
How a WhatsApp catalog boosts conversions
Every redirect, whether to a website or a separate price list, is a chance for a customer to lose interest. A WhatsApp catalog eliminates that friction, and here are the numbers to back it up:
-
83% of potential customers engage with WhatsApp catalogs, and 75% of those go on to purchase.
-
WhatsApp campaigns convert at 45–60%, versus 2–5% for email and SMS.
-
WhatsApp campaigns linked to product catalogs reported 3× higher conversion rates for orders within 24 hours compared to the usual approach.
-
66% of users have purchased after chatting with a brand on WhatsApp.
Combined with a CRM like Kommo, every catalog inquiry lands in your pipeline as a lead, ready for follow-up, automation, or handoff to your sales team.

How to create a catalog on WhatsApp with Kommo
Before you can set up a WhatsApp Catalog and connect it to Kommo, make sure you have:
-
A Meta Business Suite account
-
A WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) linked to that business portfolio
-
A catalog created in Meta Commerce Manager and linked to your WABA
-
That same WABA connected to Kommo through the WhatsApp Business integration
📌 Keep in mind: Each WABA can have one connected catalog. If you have multiple WABAs connected to Kommo, each can have its own catalog.

How to set up a WhatsApp catalog in Meta Commerce Manager
The process happens entirely inside Meta Business Suite. Here is a step-by-step overview:
-
Go to Settings in Meta Business Suite.
-
Click Data sources → Catalogs.
-
Click Add → Create a new catalog.
- Fill in the basic details
- Optionally connect tracking (Meta pixels or app SDKs)

Once created, go to Commerce Manager to manage products and link the catalog to your WABA.
How to make a catalog on WhatsApp Business app (and why it's different)
The WhatsApp Business app includes a basic catalog for up to 500 items, managed from your business profile. It cannot be connected to a CRM and has no migration path to the Meta Commerce Manager catalog. To use your catalog as part of a broader sales and automation system, set it up through Meta Business Suite and a WABA instead.

📌 WhatsApp Catalog connection in Kommo is currently in Beta.
Before connecting, confirm the following conditions:
- ✅ A catalog exists in Meta Commerce Manager and is linked to a WABA
- ✅ That same WABA is connected to your Kommo account
- ✅ Your account is not a Coexistence (Coex) account
If any of these conditions are missing, the catalog option will not be available.
Step-by-step: connecting your WhatsApp catalog in Kommo
Follow these steps to connect your WhatsApp catalog in Kommo:
-
Go to WhatsApp Business and connect a WABA account.
-
Click Continue with Facebook
-
Select your business portfolio → Continue

Selling with your catalog: sending and templates
Once connected, you can send products in three formats: the full catalog, a custom product set (up to 30 products in one section), or a single product, all through a chat, a Salesbot flow, or a broadcast.
To message a customer first, or reach out again after the 24-hour service window closes, you'll need a Meta-approved marketing template. Kommo also lets you create marketing templates that include your catalog, so customers can browse products directly from the message. Learn more in our Ultimate Guide to WhatsApp.
