Connect WhatsApp Business to Kommo

Requirements:

  • A paid Kommo account (Base, Advanced, or Enterprise plan) or be within 14 days of an active trial.
  • A personal Facebook account.
  • A dedicated phone number with country and area code (shortcodes are not supported) that is able to receive voice calls or SMS.
  • There are 3 ways to connect your number to WhatsApp Business Kommo:

- Connect a brand-new number.

- Use a number that was used in personal WhatsApp.

- Use a number that's already active in the WhatsApp Business app. In Kommo, you can use the same number in both the WhatsApp Business app and WhatsApp Business. Learn more about the feature here.

  • If your number is currently used with a regular WhatsApp account, it can still be used, but the account will need to be deleted before the connection process. Check out this Meta article for instructions.
  • If your number is connected to another WhatsApp Business Platform provider (including other Kommo integrations), you should migrate your number. Learn more about the number migration here.

Limitations:

  • Once the number is connected to WhatsApp Business, it can’t be used in other Kommo accounts. If you want to remove it later, you’ll need to first delete the number from your Meta WhatsApp Manager account.
  • Unverified Facebook Business profiles can have up to 2 phone numbers. It can be increased if you verify your profile or open 1,000 or more business-initiated conversations in a 30-day moving period using templates with a high-quality rating.
  • Verified Facebook Business profiles can only manage up to 20 numbers by default (with the option to request more).

What is WhatsApp Business integration?

WhatsApp Business is Kommo’s latest integration for WhatsApp. Built using Meta’s Cloud API, it offers a faster and more cost-efficient way to use WhatsApp within the CRM, with improved reliability and access to key features like interactive messages, message templates, and automation tools.

Connecting to WhatsApp Business

If you’re new to Kommo, you can connect your phone number to WhatsApp Business in different ways:

  • Using a new phone number
  • Using a number that was used in personal WhatsApp
  • Using a number that is used in the WhatsApp Business App

Connecting a new number to WhatsApp Business

  1. Go to WhatsApp on your left menu bar > Connect.

  1. Click Use another phone number.

  1. Login with your personal Facebook account and click Get Started.
  2. Choose a WhatsApp Business account, then select Create a new WhatsApp Business Portfolio and click Next.

  1. Fill in the required information for your new WhatsApp Business profile and click Next.

  1. Select Add a new number, enter your phone number, and choose a verification method (text message or phone call). Click Next.

  1. Enter the verification code you received and click Next. Review Kommo’s access request and click Continue.

  1. Click Finish.

  1. You’ll be redirected back to Kommo and be shown a modal to finish the setup. Click Finish.

  1. A pop-up will confirm that your number has been successfully connected.

Connecting a personal WhatsApp number to WhatsApp Business

Note: Before you start, you must delete your regular WhatsApp account first. Check out this Meta article for instructions.

  1. Go to WhatsApp on your left menu bar > Connect.
  2. Click Link WhatsApp number.

  1. Click WhatsApp app.

  1. Before continuing the process, make sure you have backup and delete your WhatsApp. And then click Continue with Facebook.

  1. Choose a WhatsApp Business account, then select Create a new WhatsApp Business Portfolio and click Next.

  1. Fill in the required information for your new WhatsApp Business profile and click Next.

  1. Select Add a new number, enter your phone number, and choose a verification method (text message or phone call). Click Next.

  1. Enter the verification code you received and click Next. Review Kommo’s access request and click Continue.

  1. Click Finish.

  1. You’ll be redirected back to Kommo and be shown a modal to finish the setup. Click Finish.

  1. A pop-up will confirm that your number has been successfully connected.

Connecting numbers used in the WhatsApp Business App to WhatsApp Business

You can continue using the same number in both the WhatsApp Business App and WhatsApp Business in Kommo. Read our guide on using the same number for WhatsApp Business App and WhatsApp Business.

  1. Go to WhatsApp on your left menu bar > Connect.
  2. Click Link WhatsApp number.

  1. Click WhatsApp Business app.

  1. Click Continue with Facebook.

Note: During the Facebook connection, there may be a short delay in incoming messages. We recommend doing this during low activity.

  1. Log in with your Facebook account and click Get Started.

  1. Choose your existing Business portfolio. Click Next.

  1. Select Connect your existing WhatsApp Business App, and then click Next.

  1. Insert your phone number, and click Next.

  1. Confirm your WhatsApp Business Account. Click Next.

  1. A QR Code message will appear. Open the WhatsApp Business App on your phone and then tap the Scan QR Code in the app.

  1. Choose whether to share chat history with WhatsApp Business. If you choose Share chats your chat history and contacts will be imported into Kommo and can be viewed there.

  1. Review Kommo’s access request and click Continue.

  1. In your WhatsApp Business App, you can now see that the number has been connected to WhatsApp Business.

  1. Click Finish.

Reconnecting to WhatsApp Business when you have logged out or deleted your number

To reconnect a number to WhatsApp Business after logging out or deleting it from the Kommo integration, follow these steps:

  1. Manually delete the phone number associated with your account in the Meta WhatsApp Manager settings. Read this article to learn more about Logging out or deleting a number.
  2. Reconnect to WhatsApp Business by repeating the same steps used during the initial setup.
