To connect WhatsApp Business app to Kommo, follow these steps:
If you see an eligibility error during onboarding, it means your account doesn’t meet Meta’s active account criteria yet. Keep using the WhatsApp Business app actively for a while to become eligible or contact Meta support. Kommo support can also reach out to Meta, but the eligibility is solely their decision.
Connecting from WhatsApp Lite
-
You’ll see the phone number previously used in your WhatsApp Lite. If multiple numbers are connected, select the one you want to migrate. Then click Migrate.
-
Click Continue with Facebook.
-
Log in with your Facebook account and click Get started.
-
Choose your existing Business portfolio or create a new one, then click Next.
Continue with steps 4–12 from the WhatsApp Business App connection section. Once you're back in Kommo, the setup continues with one of two paths:
A. If you don’t have templates to transfer
A final setup window appears. Click Finish to complete the process.
A data import message will appear in your WhatsApp Business widget. Once the import is complete, the message will disappear and the phone number status will change to Connected.
B. If you have templates previously used in Kommo
You’ll see a window to select templates to submit to Meta for approval. Click the blue template counter to open the selection modal.
After selecting your templates, click Confirm.
Wait for Meta to review your templates. Keep in mind:
- Templates keep their original content and structure.
-
A Wa prefix is added to their names.
- Approval usually takes from a few minutes to several hours.
- Rejected templates must be edited or recreated to meet Meta’s guidelines.
To check the status, go to WhatsApp Business > Connect > Templates.
Approved merged templates will show the Approved status.

What happens with chat import?
-
If merging is NOT selected, but Share chats is selected (Step 10 above): chat history and contacts from the WhatsApp Business app are imported into Kommo.
-
If merging is selected AND Share chats is also selected: If you are using WhatsApp Lite, all existing chats and leads are already there, so Source merging takes priority over chat import. To prevent duplicate chats, Kommo does not initiate the import.

Import contacts
You can enable and disable contact importing for WhatsApp Business app. Currently, it is enabled by default. To find the enable/disable setting:
-
Go to Integration marketplace> WhatsApp Business.
- Click the settings symbol next to the number needed.
The profile will open, and the next steps will vary depending on whether you're a new WhatsApp Business app user or have previously used the app:
-
New users can freely enable/disable contact syncing by clicking Import contacts:
- Existing users will need to reconnect their numbers to use this functionality. During this reconnection, leads may not arrive, and automations will be paused:
